Latest AdwCleaner 7.2.4 comes with auto-updater included, means when you launch AdwCleaner if next version is available, it informs you to update the application. For the uninitiated, AdwCleaner is a free and portable product from Malwarebytes that detects and removes adware, browser hijackers and PUPs. The tool is light on your system and hard on adware, works quite well.
AdwCleaner 7.2.4
AdwCleaner UI sports Malwarebytes look, so if you’re a Malwarebytes user and new to using the app, you’ll feel at home. If you’ve used the app in the past, upon launching the dashboard shows details like when you’ve performed scan last time, how many scans you ran and the total number of threats the app has detected.

Do you know: Malwarebytes calls detected pups as non-malware.
When you initiate the scan, AdwCleaner looks for the latest definitions in the cloud and downloads them, so that it will find the latest threats and your computer will be protected against them.
Here is how AdwCleaner automatic updater works
The name is kinda misleading that it doesn’t automatically update AdwCleaner to the latest version without user permission. Adwcleaner Update experience will be like this:
- User launches AdwCleaner
- The automatic Updater feature integrated into the app, checks for updates and prompts to download an update, if available
- When you click download, the next version will be downloaded, you’ll be informed about the progress of it and you can able to start it.
- If you click Cancel, the popup goes away.
The prompt for an update will be displayed when launching AdwCleaner. Click on [Download] and the new version will be downloaded and you’ll be informed of the progress, and then able to launch it. pic.twitter.com/NjGjLspmuv

We’re not sure what happens When the user declines to download the update, will he will be prompted next time when he launches AdwCleaner. There is no setting available to disable automatic updates option in AdwCleaner at the moment, told to us by the developer Jerome.B when asked on Twitter. After all, its just one-time use tool and users may not use it regularly.
