Opera developer version 54 has got an update. Apart from updating the browser engine to Chromium 67, the update has added Update & Recovery option to O Menu. Opera desktop team wants Opera update to be visible and reset browser settings button to be easily accessible than burying deep in the browser settings (reset button is still available in browser settings though), that’s why they’ve added the new option to Opera menu.

Opera Update & Recovery
To see and try the new features
1. Launch Opera browser.
2. Click on O Menu > Update & Recovery.
3. You’ll see two sections : Update and Recovery.
Update: This one allows user to check for updates. If an update is available, by clicking ‘Update now’ will restart browser and installs new version.
Note: Opera checks for updates when you select ‘About Opera’ option in the menu.
Recovery: Recovery section allows to reset Opera to default state. You’ve options to keep your data and only reset Settings or perform a full fresh reinstall

Clicking on Recover button brings two choices:
- Keep my data and only reset Opera Settings: This will revert your search engine to its default, remove pinned tabs, and reset browser settings. It will also disable all extensions and clear temporary data, like cookies. Your bookmarks, history, and saved passwords will not be cleared.
- Reset my data and Opera Settings: This will revert your search engine to its default, remove pinned tabs, and reset browser settings. It will also disable all extensions and clear temporary data, like cookies.
Most of the times, you may choose the first option. Choosing the second option does a full reset of Opera.
