Two months back. Avast has acquired AVG, today they’ve released new AVG antivirus product in beta version by incorporating their engine and some technologies present in Avast antivirus like streaming updates, passive mode, and cyber capture. Do note some parts of AVG engine and virus definitions were also merged into this product.
It seems AVG and Avast will remain as two different products, but will share the technologies. And the new AVG comes with Zen, Software Analyzer (formerly known as Identity Protection) and Date Safe. The Settings and Components of AVG resemble the look of current Avast free antivirus.
AVG antivirus beta with Avast engine

If you install this beta on your computer, Zen will be installed, there is now no way you can install AVG without it. After installation, you can open AVG from Zen window or you can also do the same from the AVG icon in the system tray. There are some known issues with this beta and you don’t need to create an AVG account to test this software.
