When you try to open Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) in Windows 10, browser opens and closes immediately, but ‘View and track your downloads’ popup appears and stays, if you close it and relaunch IE, you’ll get the same result. Let us see how to fix this.

Windows 10: Fix Internet Explorer 11 opens and closes, doesn’t stay
1. Open Run command, type inetcpl.cpl and press enter to open IE properties window
2. Click on ‘Advanced’ tab, click on ‘Reset’ button at the bottom to Reset Internet Explorer Settings
3. Restart your computer once done. Try to open IE11, it will open without any issues without showing ‘view downloads’ dialog and browser remains open unless you close it.

Note: Before resetting know this: Resetting Internet Explorer disables toolbars and add-ons, restores default web browser settings, privacy settings, security settings, Advanced options, Tabbed browser settings and pop-up settings. You can leave the ‘Delete personal settings’ unchecked.’
This has worked for me.
Thank you. This works fine.
Microsoft fixes were rubbish as you could not get into settings to use them. Doh!
Did the trick
Did not solve my problem
You don’t need to be able to open IE to get to settings. Go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced Tab, Reset IE. Or you can use the Run command as above. You will need to restart your PC for the reset to take effect. However, if you have downloaded a lot of crap on your PC, I suggest using Malware Bytes or some such program prior to trying to reset IE.
Didn’t work. My problem may be different, as IE flicks open, then closed, but I do NOT get that ‘View and track…’ popup. A Microsoft ‘fix’ said there was no problem. Right!
My partner did the same windows 10 updates from Decembers batch, My system still working fine yet my partners, Internet Explorer 11 Stopped working, it opens, hangs for 20 sec with a white screen then closes. I have tried the Reset IE, I have had it reinstalled, I have even transferred IE11 from the working system to my partners as both are under my name and account, and that still hangs. Either its a Update issue that’s conflicting with IE11 and Google Chrome. As I also had to fix Chrome as well as soon as the update was loaded.
I removed the update but due to Windows 10 being a Pain by automatically installing updates that have been loaded onto the computer, going back to last known good configuration doesn’t work as well.
Thanks! It worked.
