Yahoo started cleaning their house again, this time Yahoo Mail Classic got the axe, and other notable services to go away are older versions of Yahoo mail and Messenger apps for feature phones. Back in December 2012 Yahoo has discontinued Yahoo Messenger public chat rooms and other features.
Jay Rossiter, EVP of Platforms says in Ycorpblog “Like we announced last month, we want to bring you experiences that inspire and entertain you every day. That means taking a hard look at all of our products to make sure they are still central to your daily habits. As part of that ongoing effort, today we are shutting down a few more products.”
Yahoo Closing Mail Classic and More services
On April 30 following Yahoo services will be shut down.

- Yahoo Deals
- Yahoo SMS alerts
- Yahoo Kids
- Yahoo mail and messenger feature phone (J2ME) apps
On June 3, 2013, Yahoo will close classic Mail version and before that prompts user to switch to new Yahoo Mail, if they’re on older browsers or dialup connection basic/html version of New yahoo mail will be offered to them.
If they don’t want to switch to New Yahoo mail they’re allowed to download Yahoo mail using IMAP and also can can transfer their emails and contacts using third-party provider like TrueSwitch, they can then close their account.

This new yahoomail really sucks, I really HATE IT VERY MUCH. I don’t think that it’s right for yahoo to do this change without even asking us. They just changed it, and I and a lot of other people hate it so much. I really want to old classic yahoo mail back.

If a site design is working and people like it, why on earth would Yahoo decide to force users to use a less convenient and attractive version ?
The entire email page does not even show. Why must one be forced to scroll to the side to read entire email? Why is there this big wasted space to the right hand side of the email window? Where is my notepad with all my valuable notes gone?
Many of the features that made the old, Classic service great are now missing. Also, when one clicks on an email to open it, Yahoo now takes its sweet time loading that email to be viewed.
The change was not for the “better”. It’s not an improvement. It NEEDS to be improved. Whose idea was this anyway? Who thought of this and who approved this and WHY? TO what avail?Yahoo is about to lose subscribers. Was this their goal?-To cull the herd of subscribers by making us hate the new site design?
I would like to get back to the old Yahoo version. I hate the new one. Pls, help me to do so.
