Cmimageworker.exe on Windows 10 19H1 Build using high CPU is a bug, not a virus, Says Microsoft

If you’re using Windows 10 19H1 insider build 18290 on the fast ring and noticed a fairly, new and unknown process cmimageworker.exe constantly consuming too many CPU resources as if it is mining Cryptocurrencies on your PC, fear not! It’s not a virus! But it’s a bug and already under investigation of Microsoft on why it is behaving like that, the good news is MS is currently testing a fix for it and expect the company to ship it to a preview build in near future.

cmimageworker.exe process

A Windows insider took to twitter and asked cmimageworker.exe on his system is eating too much CPU resources, whether any user using insider build 18290 is seeing the same. Jason, Senior Product Manager, and Chief Hat officer on the Windows Insider Program after some research replied it as a bug and confirmed fix is under testing and will be addressed with an upcoming preview build. Looks as if this issue has been already reported on Answers forum and in Feedback Hub by insiders.
