Microsoft adds Sidebar Search for Images to Edge

Microsoft Edge allows users to search for selected text on Bing, the results will be displayed on the same page in a pane on the right side. Seems, Microsoft is expanding the Sidebar Search feature in Edge to images also. Edge Dev 92 currently makes it possible to search for images in the sidebar.

Microsoft replaced Edge Legacy’s Ask Cortana in the new Edge with a search in the sidebar feature.

Of course, the feature including the context menu option –search Bing in the sidebar — work and appear only when you use Bing as the Search engine in the Edge browser.

Bing comes as the default search engine in Microsoft Edge.

But crosscheck, your Edge has Bing added as a search engine by visiting Settings > Privacy, search and services > Services > address bar and search.

The option when selected, Snip & Sketch opens for the user to grab the screen. The image will be uploaded to Bing and similar image results will be displayed in Edge in a new tab. Bing calls this “Visual Search”.
