
QR Code Generator in Chrome 86 Canary has gained the ability to create QR code for the images also in addition to pages. Google added a context menu option to images to support this. The feature is live and working in Canary.
Last year December, we reported Chrome allows us to share pages to Android mobiles via QR code. The feature seems to have been enabled by default in dev and Canary versions of Chrome.
To share a page a via QR code from Chrome browser to your phone,
Right-click on the page and select “Create QR Code for this page” option, Chrome then creates a QR Share code with a dino image at the center, which you can scan with Camera or QR Scanner apps installed in Smartphone to navigate to the webpage on your phone.
Today, the Chromium team has added QR Code Generator the support to right click on image and share via URL. The change is landed into Chrome Canary 86.0.4219.0
” We should support the case: Browse to a page with anĀ <img> tag, Right-click the image, “Share via QR code”, the bug description reads.
Now to share images via QR code in Chrome Canary
1. Launch Chrome browser
2. Visit any webpage containing images, right-click on an image and select “create QR code for this image” option
3. Scan the QR code with mobile and tap on view QR details to open and view the image in the browser on the Phone.
New Microsoft Edge based on Chromium has the share pages via QR code feature working when you enable the flag.
It’s worth noting that Edge dev and Canary versions no longer use Dino image in QR Share Code, they dropped that, we don’t know the reason why.
