Google is making more easier to view a document’s word count on Google Docs, the company today announced it will roll out an option “Display word count while typing” under Tools > Word count, which when selected, will continuously display word count at the lower-left corner of doc while you type.
Till now, to see the word count for a document in Google Docs, you need to visit Tools and select Word Count, the service then also displays number of pages, characters (including and excluding spaces). Instead of doing this each time, once the feature is rolled out to you, you can just head to Tools > Word Count and select the new option for the word count to appear at bottom while you type.
In the Gsuite updates blog, Google said ” We’ve heard that displaying this information is helpful to users working on docs that require minimum or maxmium word count”.
The feature’s rollout has began on September 9, 2019 and can be visible to you before September 23, 2019. The word count box that you see at the bottom left can be hidden, for that, click on it and select “Hide word count”.
