When you highlight some text in a webpage and right click on it, Chrome shows Search Google for “example text”. And for the content –text or URL– copied to clipboard, when you right click on Omnibox, depending upon content you’ve copied, it either shows “Paste and Search” or ” paste and go” without displaying what you’re searching for or where you’re going to. Now upon a suggestion from user, Google has landed the change in Canary for Omnibox context menu to show copied text or link address next to Paste and Search/go.
In a bug filed by user, he says “I have a small suggestion to improve “Paste and go” and Paste and search”. Currently it simply says “paste and go” or “Paste and search”, but it should say “paste and search “cats” if you copied or cut “cats. And if you’ve copied reddit.com it would say “Paste and go to reddit.com”. ”
“Chrome already does this when you highlight text and right click on it, ” it will say “Search Google for cats”. So this should just be extending that to paste and search/go”
Chromium developers have a made commit few hours back and it has been landed in Canary, no need to enable any flags. We’ve no information when this will make into stable version.
We’ve found the improvements to Omnibox Paste and go/Search meaningful, what’s your opinion on this?
