Wondering how much time you’ve spent in a day watching videos on YouTube and wish there could be a reminder that alerts you to take a break? YouTube has now built these tools into its app in the user account menu on Android and iOS platforms.
Time watched Profile
YouTube is a place where you if landed to watch one video and you end up spending watching more. To address this, Google has come up with and added more useful tools to YouTube app on Android and iOS to know the time you’ve spent and let you disconnect when needed through a friendly reminder.
YouTube team has added Time watched Profile to user menu, which pulls information from your watch history and displays how long you’ve watched videos today, yesterday and over the past 7 days. The feature is still rolling out and will be available to everyone soon.
To know the number of minutes or hours you’ve spent on YouTube, ensure you’re signed into the app
1. Click on your account icon
2. Select ‘Time Watched’
Set a Reminder to Take a break from YouTube
YouTube Time Watched page also offers a Take a break reminder (disabled by default) which appears while watching videos so that you can leave YouTube and concentrate on your work. The reminder when appears pauses the video you’re watching. Anytime, you can adjust or turn off reminder by visiting the Settings.

Receive only one push notification from YouTube in a day.
YouTube if you want, combines all push notifications into a single notification and displays you at the time you specify. You can find this option in Settings.
The service now disables sound and vibrations for notifications that appear between 8 AM and 10 PM by default. You can enable sounds and vibrations or customize start and end time in your settings.
Yikes… I definitely don’t want to know how much time I’ve WASTED watching YouTube, lol. They should add a feature that doesn’t just remind you how long you’ve been watching, but actually disables YouTube after you’ve watched too much so you can’t watch it again until the next day.
