Sometimes, when you try to share a link to your Facebook page or profile, Facebook doesn’t show the link preview, it just displays the site URL, here is how you can fix this.
What is a link Preview?
The information for each post you put on social media is called metadata: post title, description, featured image, and URL. Sites such as Twitter and Facebook add and display thumbnail previews when you publish content on respective sites.
Why Facebook is not generating Link Preview?
When sites fail to show link preview, it is because meta data was not set properly set, or here you need to clear cache and ask Facebook to check the post again.
Fix Facebook doesn’t show link Preview
- Log into Facebook if you’re not already with a username and password, visit the Facebook Sharing debugger page,
- Paste the link, for which the Preview wasn’t shown, and click ‘Debug‘.
- Ignore the warnings and click ‘Scrape Again‘, now debugger tool will show the link preview at the bottom of the page correctly.
- Go to your Facebook page and share the link, Preview will now work and you can publish the post without any issues.
