Avast is discontinuing the SafeZone browser and will no longer be distributed. SafeZone browser which till now available with Avast, will no longer be installed on your computer when you clean install Avast.
Avast says SafeZone browser will be available for download in the near future. Those Avast users who already have SafeZone installed, will be automatically upgraded to latest browser version as soon as it gets released.
Update: Avast launches Secure browser for Windows, available for download
Avast SafeZone browser discontinued
The reason for excluding SafeZone browser from Avast antivirus is not yet known. Avast SafeZone browser FAQ page says this.
“From September 2017, SafeZone Browser is being discontinued and will no longer be distributed. Our new browser, which includes a range of new security and privacy tools, will be available for download in the near future. If you already have SafeZone Browser installed on your PC, you will be automatically upgraded to our latest browser as soon as it is released.”
We feel current Avast bloated with unnecessary features for free antivirus users such as Software updater, browser cleanup (this tool has caused issues to Firefox browser in the past), Secureline VPN and Passwords and Cleanup. Don’t forget Avast has acquired CCleaner recently.
With SafeZone browser removal, Avast users feel a sigh of relief. We feel they should be offered as separate downloads and should not be included with Avast.
The death of CCleaner…
