Inspired from Mobile OSes Opera software has introduced search popup in Opera 40 for desktop, latest dev update for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms brings this. When you select a text on a page in Opera browser, search/copy popup will appear, if you’ve found it annoying you can turn it off by visiting browser settings, here is how you can do that.
Turn off the search/copy popup in Opera
- Click on Opera menu, select Settings
- Browser > User Interface > uncheck ‘Enable the Search Popup on Selecting text’
- Close the Settings page.

The Opera 40.0.2280.0 developer update brings improved recommendations, more consistent layout to personal news feature in the list view and Top 50. The update has also brought many changes to VPN.
