Six weeks passed, have you ever thought why a new version of Firefox or for that matter, Firefox 48 hasn’t been released yet? Starting year 2016, Firefox doesn’t follow a regular six week release cycle, instead, it follows six-to-eight week release cycle. Check Firefox release schedule for 2016 year below.

2016-01-26 – Firefox 44
2016-03-08 – Firefox 45, ESR 45 (6 week cycle)
2016-04-19 – Firefox 46 (6 week cycle)
2016-06-07 – Firefox 47 (7 week cycle)
2016-08-02 – Firefox 48 (8 week cycle)
2016-09-13 – Firefox 49 (6 week cycle)
2016-11-08 – Firefox 50 (8 week cycle)
2016-12-13 – Firefox 50.0.1 (5 week cycle, release for critical fixes as needed)
2017-01-24 – Firefox 51 (6 weeks from prior release)
Note: Bold ones above are upcoming releases as of this article written date.
While we’re on current release Firefox 47, Firefox 46, 45 and 44 have been already released and considered as outdated versions as of this date.
Firefox 48, 50 to follow 8 week release cycle and will be released on August 2,2016 (what a coincidence! That’s when Windows 10 Anniversary update will also be available to public) and December 8, 2016 respectively.
Firefox 49, 51 take 6 weeks to release and will be released on September 13, 2016, and January 24th, 2017 respectively. Mozilla has scheduled a dot release (50.0.1) to fix critical bugs in version 50, i.e 50.0.1, which to take 5 weeks to release.
