Some users reported in Avast forums that latest Avast 2015 version (2015. 10.3.2225) is crashing Office 2013 applications on startup on Windows, some Windows 10 users realized their Office apps are taking a long time to open after clicking with Avast installed on their computers. 2015 versions of Avast free antivirus, Avast Pro Antivirus and Avast Internet Security users are affected.

Fix Avast 2015 crashes Office 2013
If you’re affected, irrespective of Windows version you’re using try to follow anyone from below
1. Uninstall Avast and use Windows Defender.
2. Or downgrade to a previous version of Avast that has version number 2218, you can download it from here, ensure your virus definitions are up-to-date to protect from the latest threats.
3. Or Affected users who tried latest beta version said Office 2013 is working fine without any issues. If you want to use the beta version, you should’ve to install stable version over beta when released.

Is your Office 2013 working fine with Avast installed?
Just got Avast and immediately crashed Office. Doesn’t look like there is a fix. I already paid Avast, so uninstalling it won’t be that easy, unless they refund my money. Annoying to say the least.
As I’ve mentioned in the article, old version and latest beta ( now RC) version is working fine with Office.
