Microsoft says reserved users can also use Media Creation Tool for the Upgrade

Last updated on August 1, 2015 By Venkat

Have you reserved for Windows 10 upgrade and still waiting for the notification to appear? Wake up!, in an email sent to reserved users yesterday ((I also got one, since am also reserved upgrade for my PC)) on when the free upgrade popup arrives “your notification to upgrade could come as soon as a few days or a few weeks”.

The email also includes this at the end:

Microsoft email to reserved users

“Absolutely can’t wait? Use the Media Creation Tool to install immediately on one or more devices (recommended for tech-savvy users only) “. Check your email to believe it.

Microsoft also says this in an email sent to insiders: “you can also do a media-based upgrade through the Microsoft Software Download Site”.

Don’t take that ‘recommended for tech-savvy users only’ note, go ahead and install Windows 10 now without waiting.

Reserving your system doesn’t necessarily mean the upgrade only possible with it, it  means a pre-download of Windows 10 and ensures your system is compatible with Windows 10. That’s all!.

If your Windows 7/8.1 system is genuine and have the required updates installed, there won’t be any problem to you.

So you’ve upgraded from Windows 7or 8.1 right? Use contact support app in Windows 10 to chat with Microsoft support about activation issues.
Click start , type contact supprt and open the app.

Microsoft says most users won’t have to pay for Windows 10, as long as they’re currently using Windows 7 and up. The free upgrade offer will run until July 29, 2016, but those who install Windows 10 before that date will own their copy for life, even if they need to reinstall. Users who want to create a USB or DVD backup of the Windows 10 install files will be able to do so themselves for free.
