I don’t know what went wrong. It happens that when I click the “Next” button to start the update of my PC appears a message “Something happens. Something happens” and only appears a Close button.

I don’t think so, all your files and apps in previous windows will be carried forward, you can reset or clean install that partition after upgrade. But you need to ensure your copy is activated after upgrade.

I get the “something happened” message. I’ve tried the tips — running as administrator and also double checked my English US setting, rebooted etc, still getting this message.

Try this I can’t assure you these one by one :
Visit C:\$Windows.~WS folder and try to run setup.exe if exists
If that folder exists, delete the folder and run the tool again.

I downloaded media creation tool and upgraded my PC. But when it was downloading I cancelled the download. When I wanted to upgrade again I got the “setup couldn’t start properly. Reboot your PC” message. I’ve tried to reboot my PC but still got the message. The C:\$Windows.~WS folder appeared and can’t be deleted

Can’t be deleted means do you’ve any permission issues on that PC? Hope you’re running as administrator. Can you try direct ISO we’ve covered here, after downloading the ISO, right click on it and mount it and run the setup file in it and choose ‘upgrade to this PC; option. Hope that helps

You can use Disk Cleanup tool, run the second time after selecting ‘C’ drive, click on clean system files button , when the tool shows delete all necessary temporary installation files and other. I hope you already know deleting Windows.old through Disk Cleanup, same procedure applies to this also.

Does The data In C Drive / Windows Drive Gets Deleted Or Not?

      • Venkat eswarlu says

        August 12, 2015 at 1:46 pm

Windows system file, applications will be moved to Windows.old which you can later use to get back to previous Windows , better backup importannt files before preparing for the upgrade.

This folder ‘$Windows.~WS’ created by MRT could be greater than or close to 3 GB, depends on the version (32-bit or 64-bit) you’ve chosen while running MRT and have you tried to locate the folder and run the setup file.
