If you’re an Insider, no free Windows 10 for You

Last updated on June 23, 2015 By Venkat

Few media sites miscommunicated over Gabe’s last week post to users that Windows insiders will get Windows 10 for free if they install Windows 10 build 10130 and connect their PC to Microsoft account (MSA), that’s not true Gabe has cleared the confusion.

Windows 7 and 8 users will get Windows 10 RTM for Free through upgrade. As long as you’re an insider of the program, you’ll get pre-release builds (these are evaluation copies, check the screenshot below) even after July 29, by the time one build expires, you’ll have received a new one.

Windows 10 final is just another build for insiders

“As part of the program we’ll upgrade Insiders to what is for all intents and purposes the same build as what other customers will get on 7/29, but that will be just another build for Insiders, and those who stay in the program will simply get the next build after as well”

Windows 10 insider Preview builds are evaluation ones and expire

If you’re not part of insider program, Windows 10 preview build expires

Looking to get license for Windows 10, you should check Windows 7 and 8 upgrade offer, but this is not the path — Windows 10 Preview > Windows 10 — to get licenses for Windows XP or Vista systems.

“If you decide to opt-out of the program and upgrade to the 7/29 build you will be subject to exactly the same terms and conditions that govern the offer* that was extended to all Genuine Windows 7 and 8.1 customers. This is not a path to attain a license for Windows XP or Windows Vista systems. If your system upgraded from a Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 license it will remain activated, but if not, you will be required to roll back to your previous OS version or acquire a new Windows 10 license. If you do not roll back or acquire a new license the build will eventually expire.”

Will you remain an insider?

Pre-release builds can be buggy, there is no way for you stay on a particular build, as they’ll update and if you opt-out of insider program. The build will expire. To test the new features, you need to remain as an insider or upgrade your PC to Windows 10 by availing the offer.

Post title meaning in the sense is this:

If you’re not part of insider program, Windows 10 preview build expires

To test the new features, you need to remain as an insider or upgrade your PC to Windows 10 by availing the offer.

The above two quotes are from the post you’ve commented, hope that tells what I am saying.
