To open Firefox browser in Safe Mode (which starts the browser with all the add-ons disabled), you need to hold the shift button and double click on its shortcut on the desktop, you can also do the same by accessing the option provided in the Help menu, not many users know this.
Mozilla has added the safe mode option to troubleshooting information page in Nightly, you can also use this about:support page to open Firefox profile folder and access Refresh button.

Firefox Troubleshooting Information Page now offers Safe Mode option
In Nightly 39, when you click on the Firefox menu > Help Menu> Troubleshooting Information, you can notice Try Safe Mode with ‘Restart with Add-ons Disabled‘ button below the Refresh Firefox button.
