Fix Avast’s ‘HTMLayout.dll can not be loaded properly to Start GUI’ [Updated]

When you attempt to install or Uninstall  Avast you may get HTMlayout.dll error and antivirus installation /uninstallation stops, let us see how to fix this. The error is ‘HTMLayout.dll cannot be loaded properly to start GUI. Therefore process cannot continue.’

Fixing Avast’s HTMLayout.dll cannot be loaded error

What’s happening here is during the install, setup files will be extracted to ‘C:Program FilesAVAST SoftwareAvastsetup’ directory.

To fix this, you need to be copy HTMlayout.dll file in the above said directory to ‘C:Windows:System’ folder, then try to install Avast again. If you can’t find that file in Setup directory, download it from here and place it in the Setup folder.

Note: This error could be because of malware in your computer, be sure to scan your computer with Malwarebytes before attempting this, after ensuring your system is clean, download Avast latest version and try the above instructions.

Side note: You can get this error when you attempt to uninstall Avast also, so make sure that file  exists in the Setup directory first. To move HtmLayout.dll file to the Setup directory of Avast, you need to disable Self-defense module, otherwise it won’t allow you to do that.
