If you’re using latest Google Chrome Canary on your computer and getting Chrome.exe -System Error dialog with message “ The Program can’t start because asan_rtl.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.” when trying to launch Chrome from shortcut on desktop, then let me tell you you’re not alone I am also encountered this error, here is how to fix this without reinstalling Chrome Canary.
Solution to Chrome.exe -System Error dialog with asan_rtl.dll missing and reinstall the program message
If you’ve reinstalled Canary and is working fine, then you don’t need to do anything. If you’ve not, then save your time by following below steps.
1. Navigate to “ C:Users[username]AppDataLocalGoogleChrome SxSApplication” and open 31.0.1627.2 folder (this may be different for you)
2. Copy asan_rtl.dll file and paste in below directory 31.0.1628.2 (this is latest Canary is using and having trouble)
3. Now try to launch Canary using its shortcut on desktop, it will open without any issues. Voila! the problem is solved.
