When you install Foxit Reader’s latest version 6.1.1 on your computer, it will install CloudReading plugin on your computer, adds Foxit Cloud option on File menu and you can also notice Foxit Cloud Safe Update Service Process FCUpdateService.exe running under Processes tab on Task Manager as a result of this.

Uninstalling or Removing CloudReading Plugin
Seems there isn’t much use with it for end users. Uninstalling CloudReading plugin not only removes the plugin, FCUpdateService.exe but also the Foxit Cloud option as well on File menu.
For that
- Close Foxit Reader.
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features >Select CloudReading ( for newer versions of Foxit Reader, it will be shown as ‘Foxit Cloud’) and click on Uninstall button.
Update: Added information about FCUpdateService.exe process.
Thanks, this worked for me
Thanks, the plugin kept crashing Foxit Reader. I’m not interested in sharing PDFs in the cloud, thank you very much
Glad to know about that, you’re welcome peter.
I won’t let it crash. I uninstall at once. Even if it didn’t crash. I just want to read PDFs and create them.
stupid plugin always caused crashes! thanks for your help in getting rid of it.
On my PC, it is not called “CloudReading”, but “Foxit Cloud”.
@Imhotep It is same, Control Panel shows Foxit Cloud name for newer versions of Foxit Reader, if you don’t want it on your computer, select and remove it.
Hi; I uninstalled Foxit Reader successfully via the control panel. However, I seem unable to remove Foxit Cloud in this way. I’m told the path doesn’t exist and yet it’s taking up 6.3 meg as far as I can tell. Frustrating- I do not want anything to do with this stuff; the reader had me frozen up at one point.
If you uninstall Reader, Cloud will also be uninstalled with that, reinstall Foxit reader and try to uninstall Foxit reader fully inlcluding the Foxit Cloud
I tried to follow the instructions but when I put to uninstall was redirected to the website of foxit cloud. I wonder how to uninstall from there, because now I can not uninstall anything because it says that there is another uninstall occurring. Please help me.
Uninstall window could’ve hidden behind open windows, open task manager, select that process and bring to front.
As of the most recent version of Foxit Reader / Foxit Cloud (7.2.2.929/3.7.139.918 respectively), FCUpdateService.exe has been removed.
