
Version 11 for McAfee Stinger has been released and available for download from McAfee website. Till now Stinger available as 32-bit version only, but the latest version 11 has added support for 64-bit systems too. And this standalone tool from security vendor McAfee gets updated multiple times in a week with signatures to detect and remove fake alert malware and threats that were shown when clicked on “List Viruses” button on tool interface.

Stinger is just virus scanner, its not replacement for antivirus but it is helpful enough to find malicious software on your computer.
Using Stinger: Download the 32-bit or 64-bit version of tool included in a zip file, extract its contents to a folder and run Stinger executable.
From Stinger interface you’ve options to perform Quick Scan, Full Scan and Custom Scan. By default this tools scans for viruses in these locations: processes, registry, boot sectors, and rootkits and on detection automatically repairs them.
From Settings tab of tool’s interface you can set to automatically remove them on detection if you want. Infected files will be quarantined you can able to delete or restore them from Quarantine tab.
