Bitdefender Releases Rootkit Remover Tool

Security vendor Bitdefender has released free Rootkit Remover tool which detects and removes known rootkits by using Bitdefender’s award winning malware removal technology. Unlike to other Rootkit Removal tools Bitdefender’s Rootkit Remover tool can be launched directly from Windows without needing to run from safe mode, of course you need to restart your Computer for it to clean up detected threats completely.

How to use Bitdefender Rootkit Remover Tool

Using this tool is very easy- download x86 or x64 version of tool and immediately run it and click on “start scan” button which scans and removes rootkits found if any on your System. You need to restart your Computer for the removal process to complete.

This tool currently knows following rootkits and successfully deletes them.

Mebroot, all TDL families (TDL/SST/Pihar), Mayachok, Mybios, Plite, XPaj, Whistler, Alipop, Cpd, Fengd, Fips, Guntior, MBR Locker, Mebratix, Niwa, Ponreb, Ramnit, Stoned, Yoddos, Yurn, Zegost and Necurs .

Though the above list of rootkits are older ones, Bitdefender promises to add new rootkits detection to its tool once they become known.
