Last updated on May 28, 2014 By Venkat

Second public beta of Avast 8 has been released and available for download. This beta has added Ad Blocker feature and brings much awaited Windows 8 support. This beta also brought bug fixes and improvements to features offered in Beta 1. You can install this over Avast 7 or Avast v8 Beta 1 installed on your computer where all settings will be preserved, or you can check and install this update through “program update” in beta 1 version.

You may want to check Avast 8 beta 1 review and new features offered in it.

User interface has been updated and we’re not impressed with gray tiles or boxes for scan, software updater, Statistics and other modules.

Avast has introduced and included Ad blocker with this beta-you need to opt-in to install this feature. Avast ad blocker to allow text based unobtrusive ads but lets you block banner ads on web page. So far we couldn’t find an interface for this in browser add-ons or in the program UI.

Avast 8 Beta 2 bug on Windows 7: Windows security center doesn’t detects installed Avast beta, hence action center alerts you by showing messages to update Windows defender and install an antivirus program, you can ignore them because you’ve already installed Avast AV on your Computer.
