Autoruns v14.0 adds Modern UI & dark Theme for Startup Monitoring Tool

Autoruns, Process Explorer, Process Monitor are utilities of Windows Sysinternals Suite. These tools’ UI has been outdated, but they’re very helpful to PC users. For instance, Autoruns lets you handle startup processes running on your computer. The utility has received a much better look, including a dark theme with the Autoruns v14.0.

Autoruns is a go-to tool for many to manage startup processes despite the same feature provided by CCleaner, Task Manager, and System Configuration (MSConfig) utility.

The tool exposes software that starts up Automatically on Windows. Autoruns shows the following information in its User interface

  • Software applicaitons
  • Explorer shell extensions
  • Auto-start services
  • startup applications
  • drivers
  • Internet Explorer add-ons (Internet Explorer was dead now)
  • Services and much more

Autoruns features:

  1. With VirusTotal Integration, you can look up selected entries for malware check and see results in VirusTotal Column.
  2. Autoruns comes with the option to “Analyze offline system”.
  3. It hides empty locations and Windows entries by default.
  4. With plenty of tabs may get confusing to start, but the “Everything” tab helps in that regard.
  5. These days, Malicious software finds ways to hide, Autoruns tool uncovers undetected malware if they run as Scheduled Tasks and Drivers by displaying them in respective Tabs.
  6. The developer offers command-line verison “Autorunsc” with the tool.

  • Autoruns seem to support Windows 11 design with rounded corners. It is bliss to eyes with dark theme enabled.
