The fix works on Edge for latest Windows 10 and Windows 11.
What’s happening?
Edge Lagging issue
All of a sudden, plenty of users started experiencing Edge as laggy.
Lagging means Edge takes a long time to react to mouse clicks. For instance, if you click on a link or tab in Edge, the browser reacts very late.
While the slowness may be contributed to open tabs, cache, extensions, settings, and networking issues.
These can be fixed by resetting Edge, clearing the cache, and disabling Edge extensions, when none or all not worked, you should wonder what’s wrong with Edge.
The Edge version in question is 111.
Omen Gaming Hub update makes Edge browser laggy
“Starting this morning Edge got very laggy, but when I have my normal few dozen tabs open it’s so slow as to be unusable. Everything takes forever, launching the browser –new tabs, switching tabs, rendering pages, getting a menu to appear, keyboard and mouse input –it’s all abysmally slow. Doing any of those things takes anywhere from 30 seconds to over a minute” one Edge user reported on Reddit.
There are several threads [1] [2] over this on the Edge subreddit in the past few days.
It may not be a coincidence that the recent Omen Gaming Hub update is causing the issue for most.
If you feel your Edge is taking a long time to react to your mouse clicks or input, check if you’re running HP Omen laptops with Omen gaming Hub installed.
Most users reported disabling or uninstalling Omen Gaming Hub fixed the Edge Lag issue for them, it’s your turn to check and take action.
Update: Omen Gaming Hub received Hotfix for the Edge lag issue. Download the app update from the Microsoft store right away if you’re affected.
