A few months back, Microsoft announced it will allow Edge users to check recent Outlook emails and compose a new message from the New Tab Page itself. The capability is now rolling out to Edge. We’ve successfully enabled Smart Tile for Outlook.com on the new tab in all Edge versions including Production, beta, dev, and Canary, here is how you can do that too.
Microsoft said the new feature will let users preview the latest emails in their Outlook inbox from the new Tab itself.
Edge shows three recent messages and lets you send a new email and add an event to the Calendar.
Outlook opens compose a new email and add an event to calendar pages in new tabs when you click “New Email” and New Event” options in the tile.
The Outlook icon on hover over also shows when it displayed the latest information.

Even, when you sign in to your Microsoft Account in Edge and sync stuff across devices, you still need to sign in to the same Microsoft Account that you use for Outlook to see recent emails on New Tab Page.
Enable Outlook Smart Tile on Edge New Tab Page
- Open New tab Page in Edge browser
- Click on the + icon under Quick links
- Select Outlook suggestion at the bottom

- Use the scroll bar to go down and click on Enable button.

Note: If your NTP has an Outlook icon already present, hover over it, scroll to the bottom and click on Sign into Microsoft Account, and further click on Enable button.
The feature should have been available to all Edge users with version 88, better late than never, it’s now making its way to Edge anyway.
