Chrome 78: Flash Player December 2020 warning won’t appear for 2 weeks once you dismiss it

Last updated on August 23, 2019 By Venkat

As per their Flash Roadmap, Google disabled Flash Plugin by default in Chrome 76. those who override the Flash setting to run the plugin on sites will receive an infobar on startup saying: “Flash Player will no longer be supported after December 2020”. This warning appears on every startup of browser which is really annoying and brought to Chromium team’s notice, today they’ve added “14 day cooldown period for the warning after it is dismissed” in Chrome 78.

Flash Player will no longer be supported after December 2020 warning

What happenned?

After Adobe announed it will kill Flash in last month of next year, Google made changes to Chrome browser to block Flash on all sites by default by changing Flash Setting to “block sites from running Flash”.

Chrome however allows users to run Flash on sites if they want by chaning global Flash Setting to” Ask first” in Site Settings, those who done this, will be reminded about Flash death is approaching in December 2020 on every browser launch, dismissing the warning by clicking close icon (x) won’t make the warning to go away forever, it will appear on next launch of Chrome browser.

14 day cooldown period Flash warning comment

Now, this won’t happen in Chrome 78. If you’ve set Flash Setting to ask first and once you dismiss the Flash deprceation warning by clicking close button, you won’t be nagged for next 14 days.
