How to Install Word, Excel and PowerPoint Apps in Windows 10 from Windows Store?

Microsoft has released Universal Office apps for Windows 10 and are available on the Windows Store Beta. These apps are optimized for mobile and touch devices. Technical Preview users running build 9926 on PCs can install a preview version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps, let us see how.

Installing Office apps in Windows 10 from the Store

Click on the Store (beta) tile on the start menu or use its icon on the taskbar to open the Windows Store Beta. Search for Word Preview, PowerPoint Preview and Excel Preview, select once app shown in the results, click on ‘free’ to begin the install process.

Or visit this article in the internet Explorer or copy and paste a link of an app (using the above) in the address bar and press enter, when IE shows a dialog to open an app on your computer, click ‘Allow’, then Windows Store will open with that link, with which you can easily install the app on your computer.

Once installed, launch Start menu, click on ‘All apps’, identify the app and open it.

To install these apps, you need to be signed into your Microsoft account, if you’ve logged into Windows 10 with your local account, then Windows asks you to switch to Microsoft Account, which you can by following the instructions showed on the screen at that time.

    I noticed the link to Word Preview is the same as the one linking to Preview Powerpoint.
