
When you visit an extension page in Chrome browser on the Web Store in Windows 8 or Windows 10 (Tech Preview), extension page shows ‘Not Compatible’ button instead of ‘free’ button which you click to install, which on hover over shows this message: ‘ This application is not supported on this computer. Installation has been disabled. The following problems are detected: NPAPI plugin is required by this app’, let us see how to fix this.
After May 1, all off-Store Chrome extensions will be hard-disabled
Why is this happening and what’s the reason?

Fix Chrome Web Store shows ‘this application is not supported ..’ Error
1. Create another shortcut for Chrome on the desktop.
2. Right click on it, select ‘Properties’, click on ‘Compatibility’, under ‘compatibility mode’, select ‘Run this program in compatibility mode’ for and select ‘Windows 7’ and click ‘OK’ to apply the changes.
3. Now launch Chrome using this shortcut, visit the Web Store and install that extension and use.
4. Remove the shortcut we’ve created and on the regular shortcut properties dialog under Compatibility tab, ensure run this program in compatibility mode is unchecked.
