
You know this, Canary version doesn’t allow to make it as a default browser saying it is a secondary installation of Chrome, but we’ve made that possible with a registry hack. And now Chromium based Opera has three release channels: Developer, Next and Stable. Unlike to Canary, Opera Developer allows to set it as default browser.

If you want to do that
1. Click on Opera button and from its Menu, select Settings
2. Under ‘Default Browser’, click on ‘Make Opera Developer my default browser’, instantly browser shows it is the default one.

I’m currently using Opera stable. I was tempted to ditch Opera completely when version 15 first came out but its become a bit more customizable since then. I’m currently writing this comment in Seamonkey. I use it’s email client and it will not open my default browser when I click on a link from it. Anyway I decided to stick with Opera for now.
