
Its now possible to get rid of start button from Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 with a free app. Have you found no use with Start button in Windows 10? And want to remove it, Microsoft doesn’t allows us to do that, don’t worry! You can still achieve that with freeware portable app StartIsGone.
When Windows 8 was available, everybody desperate to get start button back on it. Microsoft heard the feedback and added that to Windows 8.1, but it doesn’t launch the start menu which we used to in Windows 7, it launches the Start Screen aimed at touch devices which no desktop user is liking at the moment.

Hide or remove the Start button in Windows 10
Issue with Start Button in Windows 8.1 is it won’t hide when the taskbar is visible. Most users don’t like this and want a way to hide Start button on task bar in Windows 8.1. Forget about hiding! you can remove it now even on Windows 10.
In Windows 10, you can click on Start button to open the Start menu, you can do that also by using the Win key.
Using StartIsGone
- Using the program is simple, download StartisGone zip file, extract files to a folder.
- Run app executable from folder X86 or X64, depending which one you’re using.
- Start button is gone.
- Make sure you right click on its tray icon and select “Run at startup” on context menu, so that start button will be removed every time when your desktop is shown.
