Nero released Nero BurnLite 10 free version which offers simple CD,DVD copying and burning capabilities but the annoying thing is Nero BurnLite 10 comes bundled with Ask toolbar and Nero will install Ask toolbar without user consent , though you can install Nero along with Ask Toolbar and uninstall Ask Toolbar later, let us see how you can install Nero 10 free version without installing Ask Toolbar.
This is very simple process.
Installing Nero BurnLite 10 free version without ask toolbar
1.Download Nero BurnLite 10 from Nero website requires registration, no problem you can download Nero BurnLite 10 from below link.
Link :Nero BurnLite 10
2.Run the program, Nero extracts all files needed to install to temporary folder .
3.After Nero completely extracts required files to temporary folder , Nero shows InstallShield Wizard now click cancel button .
4.Now click start button and click run command or press Win +r to open run command box and type %temp% and Press enter.
5.Now you will observe NERO20100709115641857 like folder under temporary folder which contains all files to install Nero in your Computer.
6.Open that folder contains setup file ,windows installer ,setup configuration settings files and other files requires to install Nero 10 free version.
Scroll down to the bottom double click on setup.ini configuration settings file and it will open in notepad ,now scroll down under ” [ISSetupPrerequisites]” remove 6th entry “PreReq5= Ask Toolbar.prq” and save the file.
Now run Nero BurnLite 10 Setup application from temp folder and follow instructions on the screen Nero will be installed without any problems and of course without ask toolbar.
I installed Nero BurnLite 10 on windows 7 and its working fine.
Update (Dec 3, 2010): Here is latest Nero Burn Lite 10 download link , no need to give your email address to Nero.

Great job.I dont like installing extra stuff without my consent. This is really good tip.
Thanks gouthami .b
I’ve been used nero 9 lite. Because Nero 10 lite requires Ask Toolbar.
Now I can use nero 10 lite without Ask Toolbar!
Thank you very much!
During the installation, I got to the part where Nero would not let me cancel the window that wanted to install the Ask toolbar. Therefore, I went into task manager and terminated the process that included words like “Nero” and “Ask”, as I recall. That termination closed the window. Then I deleted the line in [ISSetupPrerequisites] and saved the file.
Nero then asked me to reboot the computer. When the reboot was finished, Nero finished installing on its own. It is now installed and working. Thanks for the help. It makes sense to me that Nero wants to make money advertising for others to enable them to provide the software for free, but pop ups that don’t allow you to cancel them are the same as malware. While I am a long-time Nero customer and even have an unopened copy of Nero Ultimate 9, I don’t want to install it because it is SO bloated.
Thanks for the hint ;)
You guys should try InfraRecorder or CDBurnerXP (both free).
Okay, follow-up: I did succeed in getting the Nero 10 temp folder to show up, opened .ini and deleted the Ask Toolbar line. But I still can’t get past the InstallShield error. Everything seems to be fine up to that point. What’s this Reboot Validator it keeps asking for? Can I delete that from the ISSetup Prerequisites, too?
No you shouldn’t delete Reboot Validator entry in .ini file
Well, what exactly does it do? And how come I keep getting asked for it? I’m still getting the InstallShield error, too, and I’m about to dump Nero and forget about it.
Thanks for this, it’s really very clever of you to have found that :)
You are the hero of the universe! Good work man! Thanks for sharing your awesome method!
