The new layout for NTP shortcuts is available behind a flag till now, Chromium team to enable and make it available to everyone using the Chrome browser “in preparation for 100% rollout”, according to the Chrome Gerrit page we spotted.

The feature is available to us by default in Chrome 77 stable, with this, you can able to move NTP shortcuts around and set them in a particular order according to your liking. This enhancement is also on available Mac, Linux and Chrome OS.

If you don’t like the animations or the grid layout for quick links offered on the new tab, visit chrome://flags/#grid-layout-for-ntp-shortcuts and disable it for the time being.

You should know, though the flag is still available at Chrome://flags page, it will vanish at any time in future Chrome versions considering it has been shipped as a feature.

FYI, Chrome 77 released on September 10, 2019, and the next version will arrive on October 22, 2019, which is eight days from today.
