How to enable Chrome’s new UI Refresh 2023

Google to update Chrome‘s new User interface in 2023 (CR23), this year. The company has been working on a new design for some time, finally, the “Refresh of Chrome desktop UI” can be enabled and seen now.

Updated Chrome looks more clear and beautiful with rounded corners everywhere for menus, and right-click menus, and, the 3-dot menu also features new icons for each option.

Google has also updated Toolbar icons including the Extensions menu and Share with a new design. The menus that appear when you click on them appear also rounded.

We can say, the company has taken care to update every part of Chrome with Google You Material design guidelines on the Desktop.

How to enable new UI Refresh 2023 in Chrome

  1. Open Chrome browser running version 114 or later
  2. Visit chrome://flags
  3. Search for “2023” and enable “Chrome Refresh 2023”

  4. And, find “cr23” on the Chrome://flags page and turn on the following flags.
    Omnibox CR 2023 Action Chips
    Omnibox Expanded State Height
    Omnibox Expanded State Shape
    Omnibox Steady State Icons
    Omnibox Expanded State Suggest Icons
    Omnibox Expanded State Colors
    CR23 update flags
  5. Restart Chrome.
    After restarting, as said above, you can see the UI changes in Omnibox, menus, dialogs, and everything with rounded corners and new icons.

The bookmarks dialog and Sidepanel Bookmarks aka Power Bookmarks have been updated Prior to design testing.

When Chrome Refresh 2023 design will be available?

You can bet you’ll get a new UI update for Chrome in 2023 at any time, there is no ETA for when Google is planning to bring a fresh coat of paint to its browser.

Until then, you should be using the Canary version to see the visual changes in Chrome.
