If you don’t use Cortana in Windows 10 2004, you can uninstall (and reinstall if you want) it though Microsoft doesn’t provide an option or GUI for its uninstallation in the Windows 10.
Till Windows 10 v1903, Cortana is a crucial component of Windows 10 that comes with Windows Search included. There are ways to disable or even Uninstall the virtual assistant, but doing so may break the Windows Search or Windows 10 functionality.
You can also hide Cortana on the taskbar by unchecking the “Show Cortana button” option present in the taskbar context menu.

Why do you want to Uninstall Cortana in the first place?
- The reason could be Cortana runs on Windows Startup and consumes system resources when not in use.
- Isn’t giving accurate answers
- You’ may be receiving Cortana is not available error even if it is supported in your region.
- Cortana is not offered in your Country.
For the first reason, you can turn off Cortana in the Startup tab in Task Manager. Do note Windows 10, like other tasks, suspends the Cortana process when it is not active, you can see it “suspended” under background processes in task Manager.
For the second, no digital Assitant is accurate these days. Cortana is a web-based service that uses Bing to give answers to your questions. You should always take these with a pinch of salt.
Note: Cortana doesn’t work offline.
We’ve provided a fix for the third. For the fourth, I say you may have to wait until Microsoft makes it available.
