
Google has made its Video conferencing application, Meet free for everyone. Anyone with a Google Account can visit meet.google.com to start a meeting or enter a meeting by typing the code. Google Meet also came to Gmail recently for some. We’ve reported users will be allowed to disable the Meet section in Google email service in the coming days, today, Google announced in GSuite Updated blog that they’re adding a new “user setting” to Gmail for the same.
“We previously announced the ability to start or join a Meet call in Gmail. We’re now giving users the option to hide those features”.
Meet button which appears in Gmail sidebar currently offers two options: Start a meeting and Join the meeting, these options or the whole Meet section can be hidden if you enable the new setting in Gmail.
To Hide Google Meet in Gmail
1. Visit Gmail in the web browser
2. Sign into with username and password
3. Click on the gear icon and select Settings
4. Click on Chat and Meet
5 Select “Hide the meet section in the main menu”
6. Click “Save changes”.
As of now, the “Chat and Meet” section and options in it are not available in Gmail Settings, Google has started rolling out changes to Gmail users on May 19, the feature could take 15 days to appear.
