Google Chrome with Sync feature allows accessing open tabs on other devices via the history page, but Google introduced a quick way to send tabs to various devices with the “Send tab to self” feature sometime back with Chrome. With the same Google account signed into other devices in the Chrome browser, you need to right-click on a web page and select the device to send a tab, a desktop notification will be shown on Windows/Mac/Linux and Chrome OS devices and a notification will also appear on another device.
The chromium team wants to change this for send tab to self feature by showing sending animation in Omnibox instead of desktop notification when you select the device in the page context menu. The feature or the new change, can be tested in Chrome 83 Canary by enabling “Send tab to self Omnibox sending animation”.
Enable the flag, restart the browser, right-click on a web page and select the device, instead of desktop notification you’ll see sending animation in the address bar.
What this means is fewer notifications from desktop Chrome and the notification count in Action Center on Windows 10 will also be less when you frequently send tabs to other devices by using the context menu option.
