Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4517389 is causing BSOD to Some

Problems continue with the latest Windows 10 Cumulative Update published by Microsoft as part of Patch Tuesday. Till now Microsoft acknowledged the KB4517389 update has caused issues to Start Menu and Edge browser, another issue in the form of BSOD is affecting some now.

According to the affected reported on Microsoft Answers and other support forums, every since the install of Cumulative Update, users are noticing sudden BSOD. The reports have a common point they’re are happening on laptops, but not desktop PCs.

A user says on Microsoft community site that he started “getting BSOD failures in cldflt.sys after installing KB4517389” update. He confirms uninstalling the update resolved the issue for him. Eight users claimed they too have the same issue.

Another person said on Affinity forum that after installing the update on his laptop running Windows 10 version 1903, he is experiencing BSOD when using Affinity applications.

“Just FYI, I rebooted my Windows 10 laptop this morning to finish installing Windows Update KB4517389, and after that I experienced several Windows failures, BSOD when using the menus in the Affinity applications. ” Affinity user noted.

BSOD crash is a major issue, if you’re encountering it frequently, you should remove the update immediately and hide the update from being reoffered by Windows Update.

To uninstall this Update, visit Control Panel > Programs >  Programs and Features > Installed updates, select “Update for Microsoft  Windows (KB4517389) and click “Uninstall” and follow the on-screen instructions.

To block the KB4517389 Update, download and run Show/Hide updates Tool

If the tool lists the Update in the available ones, select it and follow the instructions appear on screen from there to hide it.

    Have been having issues with PS CC 2018/2019 since WinVer 1903
    Not saving properly
    Not opening files from PS dashboard
    Strokes disappearing as soon as you lift the stylus or let off the mouse button
    Adobe support has been useless… Wish MS would get their updates together before releasing the plague on us!
