Microsoft Edge Insider addons site goes live, now available

We all know Microsoft could release separate preview build for Chromium based Edge at any point of time so that anyone can test without needing to install Windows insider builds. Is the company giving signals that this is going to happen soon? Seems that’s the case. Apparently, Microsoft Edge addons store of insider builds has gone live and now available to the public.

We’ve recently covered about Microsoft Edge screenshots which also contains that of Edge extensions’, and we said the company, has thoughts to maintain a dedicate site for add-ons as Opera does. Now you can see that in any browser at Microsoft Edge insider addons page. MS offers extensions for Chromium-based Edge in these categories:

  • Adblockers and password managers
  • , Education
  •  Social and entertainment
  •  Shopping,
  • Productivity,
  • For Developers.

Since you can already install extensions from Microsoft Store in current Edge browser, these Edge extensions site could be exclusive to Microsoft’s Chromium-based Edge browser and you may need to sign in to your Microsoft account to get them.

We’ve tried to see if we can install extensions in current Microsoft Edge browser that comes with Windows, as we know they could be incompatible because they’re developed for Chromium-based browser, no, that’s not possible. Actually, clicking “get” button for the extension not doing anything as of now.
