Microsoft announces custom tags for OneNote App in Windows 10 and Mac

The most requested custom tags for OneNote App in Windows 10 and Mac, has been announced by Microsoft and will be available in January 2019 to users. When rolled out or available, users don’t need to enable anything in settings to create custom tags. They can click on Home tab in OneNote App, click tags, in the create tag page, type tag name, select an icon and click ‘create’, first custom tag will be created, that will be synced and available across all devices and will show up in app search results under Tags tab when you search for them.

To select a line you want to tag, click Tags in Home tab and select a tag you’ve created before.

You can visit Tags > Used in this notebook to see

  • Previously deleted tags
  • custom tags created by you from another device
  • custom tags created by users in that notebook.
