
A few months back, Avast has discontinued the distribution of SafeZone browser and promised it will ship a more secure browser soon. The time has come, the successor to Avast SafeZone browser – Avast Secure browser– is now available with new features and bug fixes to SafeZone users and also available as standalone for download, what this means is you don’t need to install Avast antivirus to use the Secure browser.
Avast Secure browser
Before, SafeZone browser has provided these features: Adblocker, Bank mode, Video Downloader, Phishing Protection, SafePrice and Avast Password manager.
Avast Secure browser is the new and improved version of SafeZone browser, built on latest version of Chromium. The browser is same as Avast SafeZone browser, but comes with Security & Privacy center to access and manage browser’s new features (check them below) and settings.
New features
Avast’s Secure browser promises cryptojacking protection and extension guard. Google has recently banned cryptomining extensions from Chrome browser, Avast browser brings protection against web miners that mine cryptocurrencies. Opera Software offers cryptocurrency mining protection in Opera browser by integrating nocoin into adblocker.
The new browser made available by Avast also provides stealth mode (sometimes called as incognito mode or private browsing mode), Anti-Tracking, HTTPS Encryption, anti-fingerprinting (disabled by default) protection, blocks flash by default (Flash Protect), lets you clear browsing history and data stored in other browsers by using Privacy Cleaner tool.
Do note, you need to visit Security & Privacy center in Secure browser to manage these features.
You can uninstall Avast Secure browser like any application in Windows by visiting the Control Panel.
Avast Secure browser is currently available to SafeZone browser users and as a separate download from Avast website.
