Make Internet Download Manager to show the download panel for videos playing in the Edge browser by installing IDM integration module extension.
Two years back Tonec has added Edge browser support to Internet Download Manager (IDM), but still within Windows 10 Creators Update, you can’t get videos from video sharing sites such as YouTube, as ‘IDM’s Download this video’ Panel doesn’t appear in Edge.
ATM, IDM extension for Edge is not available in the Store, but you can still install IDM Integration Module extension manually in Edge browser, here is how that can be done.
Dec 11, 2017 UPDATE : IDM Extension for Edge is now available on Windows Store, here is how you can install it
First and foremost, ensure you’re using the latest version of IDM and check ‘Edge’ and ‘ Use Advanced Browser Integration’ options are selected in IDM General preferences.
Install IDM Integration Module in Edge
- Visit about:flags, select ‘Enable extension developer features’ checkbox under ‘Developer Settings’
- Restart Edge browser for the changes to apply.
- Click on … more menu and select ‘Extensions’
- Click ‘Load extension’, browse and navigate to IDMEdgeExt folder under ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Download Manager’ and click ‘Select Folder’

After that, if you play a video in Edge browser, you’ll see the download panel as shown in the screenshot below.
How to Install IDM Integration Extension in Google Chrome Manually [Updated]
You should know extensions installed in this fashion will be turned off by Edge and it warns you’ We’ turned off extensions form unknown sources. They might be risky so we recommend keeping them off’. This happens many times, each time, you can enable the extension by clicking on ‘ Turn on anyway’. I know this is tiresome, but you’ve to rely on this temporary workaround untill IDM publishes its extension for Edge browser in the Windows 10 Store.
Edge keeps Turning off extensions from Unknown Sources
did not work: “Error parsing”
It worked for me, there is no reason for it to not to work for you. Ensure you’re using the latest version of IDM and re-follow the instructions once again.
There is no file named ‘IDMEdgeExt ‘ in the directory. Can you please email me this file. My IDM may not be the last updated.
Please uninstall current and install latest version. That will fix the problem.
“IDMEdgeExt” it is not a file, it’s a folder. And you do not double click on it, you click on the button “Select folder”
It worked perfectly for me, Venkat
Thank you
You’re welcome william.
doesn’t work for me either. I have the latest update and still nothing. works fine in chrome and firefox but nothing on edge.
By posting comment simply doesn’t work doesn’t help others and me in giving reply to you. What happens when you select ‘Select folder’ inside IDMEdgeExt folder. I’ve tested again and the method works fine for me. Using Windows 10 1703 build (15063.332) and edge version 40.15063.0.0 and IDM version 6.28 build 11 (may 25/2017) full.
Thx sir, it’s work
God Bless You :)
