
Till now you can able to watch 360° videos on YouTube and other sites, but the popular VLC Player on desktop can’t play them, soon it’ll. Videolan has released a Technical preview version of VLC player 3.0 – VLC 360° – that has got 360 degree videos and images support. At present, preview version is available for Windows and Mac platforms. The company says, Giroptic (that makes 360 cameras) has contributed to the project by providing samples, cameras, code and expertise.

This preview version, that can play 360 degree videos and images, has the following features.
1. Playback of 360 Videos following the Spatial Video spec
2. Playback of 360 Photos and Panoramas following the Spherical spec
3. Display modes with Zoom, Little planet and Reverse little planet
4. Control it with your Mouse and Keyboard
5. Open Source and Cross-platform, accelerated with OpenGL and Direct3D11
