Mozilla has enabled a new design for the address bar in Firefox Nightly, the organization calls it as “Megabar” aka Quantumbar.
The new address bar rewritten using web technologies (HTML, JS, and CSS) doesn’t occupy the whole browser toolbar width and it stands out to grab your attention by showing suggestions as you type something or with the mouse cursor focusing the address bar.

The organization has been working on a new address bar design for some time now and with the new quantum bar that uses new architecture, they wanted to provide a better search experience to users. They’re offering the in-tree documentation for it here.
Mozilla has shipped most features of Quantumbar with Firefox 68 release and now they seem to have landed remaining bits in version 71. If you don’t like the megabar, you can disable it and get back the old/legacy address bar in Firefox, here is how.

1. Visit about:config
2. Search for megabar, toggle ” browser.urlbar.megabar” pref value to false
3. Restart the Firefox browser.
