Microsoft Employee, Paul says the company is aware of the issue and is working on a solution that will be shipped through Windows Update in future and suggests affected users to enable IPv6 for the time being.
“Microsoft is aware of an issue after installing the Windows 10 October 2018 (version 2019) that prevents Microsoft store apps from connecting to the internet on devices that have disabled IPv6. Microsoft is working on a solution that is planned to be released in a future Windows Update.”
Enable IPv6 for Network Adapter
If you’re unsure whether IPv6 enabled or disabled on your computer, its good to check once again and turn on to resolve the issue, here is how you can do that.
1. Open Settings > Network & Internet
2. Click Change Adapter options
3. Right click on Network Adapter and select Properties
4. Check ‘ Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
5. Click OK to apply the changes.
If the issue still persists after enabling IPv6, you need to change your network profile to the public, after that, you need to reset the network if the problem continues.
If you’ve deactivated IPv6 and don’t want to turn it on, you’ve to wait till Microsoft publishes fix through Windows Update. Reddit user who asked the question, says some intentionally deactivate IPv6 to avoid VPN leak issues.
