Chrome Update dialog now warns Incognito Windows won’t reopen if you relaunch the browser

Chromium team has updated Google Chrome update dialog with additional wording in Canary channel to alert users that “incognito Windows won’t reopen” if they relaunch Chrome, the change can be seen in the latest Canary 80 version.

Chrome update dialog with incognito windows won't reopen wording

Generally, even if you set Chrome to continue where you left off or open the new tab page or open a specific page or set of pages, incognito windows from the previous session won’t reopen. Incognito mode itself means your browser history, including cookies and site data, won’t be saved, they’ll be cleared when you quit incognito.

Normally, in Stable Chrome, if you check for updates, update if available, will be downloaded and installed, Chrome then prompts to restart the browser to apply it by saying  “Nearly up to date! Relaunch Google Chrome to finish updating”.

If you now update Chrome Canary, you’ll notice the update dialog saying “Nearly up to date! Relaunch Google Chrome to finish updating. Incognito windows won’t reopen.”

The dialog now informing users private mode windows if any open before installing the update, won’t be restored if you restart the browser. We’re not sure this change makes sense or will be informative to users.
