
Till now Chrome has displayed Drive Suggestions in Omnibox when the browser has the related setting enabled in Sync. Google to remove this setting from Sync and make the “Omnibox Google Drive Suggestions” available for all Signed-in Users.
The “Show Google Drive suggestions” Setting generally appears in “Sync and Google services” Settings, when you have Sync enabled.

After turning on that setting, when you type in Omnibox, Chrome sends what you type to Google Drive to get suggestions.
Since the beginning, Google Drive suggestions is tied to Sync. The setting also allows users to opt out of Drive Suggestions.
Considering most of Chrome features tied to sync in the past are now available to signed-in users, Google is planning to bring Drive suggestions to logged-in users as well.
Omnibox Google Drive Document suggestions available to all signed-in users
For this change, the Chrome team has readied the “Omnibox Google Drive Document suggestions available to all signed-in users” flag in Canary. Enabling this flag removes the “Show Google Drive Suggestions” Setting from “Other Google Services” on the chrome://settings/syncSetup page.
For users to opt out of Google Drive Suggestions in Omnibox, they need to disable improve search suggestions setting, this disables all server-side suggestions from Google. Here is how to do that.
Disable Google Drive Suggestions in Omnibox
- Open Chrome
- Click on Menu and select Settings
- Click on You and Google >Sync and Google Services
- Toggle off “Improve Search Suggestions”
